  • The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) recommended yesterday that Congress should raise Medicare payment rates for hospitals and physicians next year. MedPAC advised that hospitals should get a 1 percent bump and doctors should see an increase of 50 percent of the Medicare Economic Index to keep up with high inflation. The board also recommended that Congress reduce base payment rates for home health by 7 percent and skilled nursing facilities and inpatient rehabilitation facilities by 3 percent. (Article here)
