- Kaufman Hall released its 2022 year-end report, showing that there were 17 hospital merger and acquisition deals announced during the fourth quarter of 2022. Of those, four are set to merge two billion-dollar organizations. In total, 53 deals were announced in 2022, up from 2021’s recent historic low of 49 announced transactions. However, the combined revenues of the parties in 2022’s announced transactions resulted in more than $45 billion in total transacted revenue for the year, slightly above 2017’s previous high mark of $44 billion (for 117 deals). According to the advisory firm, the final numbers show that the trend of fewer, but larger, hospitals M&A deals that kicked off with the pandemic will continue. (Report here)
