  • The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit to block UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s planned acquisition of health tech company Change Healthcare Inc. The DOJ argued that the $7.8 billion deal could “undermine competition” among health insurers by granting UnitedHealth access to troves of sensitive data about its rivals and would unlawfully reduce competition in markets for commercial insurance and the processing of claims. The companies defended the deal, with a UnitedHealth spokesperson saying the DOJ’s arguments “do not reflect the realities of the health care system.” (Articles here, here, and here)
