  • People without health insurance won’t immediately be able to get free COVID shots at pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens when the next-generation vaccines are unveiled in a few weeks due to delays in finalizing government partnerships with pharmacies. Throughout the pandemic, pharmacies have been a primary point of contact for vaccines as nine out of 10 Americans live within five miles of a pharmacy, while other health care points of contact can be much farther away. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the uninsured and underinsured won’t be completely out of luck. While shots are not accessible in pharmacies, uninsured and underinsured individuals can get their COVID-19 shots at community health centers and state health departments. (Articles here or here)
