  • Three medical associations released a joint statement declaring a national mental health crisis among teenagers and children. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Children’s Hospital Association said the COVID-19 pandemic has triggered prolonged isolation, uncertainty, and grief, which has worsened an already existing mental health crisis. The groups also said inequities resulting from structural racism contributed to disproportionate impacts of the pandemic on children from communities of color. (Articles here and here)
