  • Providence has allocated more than $220 million toward hiring and retaining more health care professionals. The nonprofit hospital system will use the money to support several initiatives: $1,000 bonuses to all employees up to the director level who have been at Providence for at least 90 days, workforce development initiatives, adjustments to employee pay “where needed,” and efforts to fill 17,000 job openings with “highly competitive” sign-on bonuses for new employees as well as referral bonuses for existing staff ranging from $1,000 to $7,500, depending on the position.
