- The FTC has requested information regarding the Spectrum-Beaumont hospital system merger in Michigan. The two hospital systems said they are responding to the request and that a surge of merger filings is holding up the regulatory review of their proposed deal. - Merck & Co. is in advanced talks to acquire Acceleron Pharma Inc., a drugmaker that focuses on therapeutics to treat blood-related disorder. A potential deal could help Merck, which sells the blockbuster cancer drug Keytruda, to add drugs for rare diseases to its pipeline. A Bloomberg report on Friday said Acceleron was in talks to be acquired for more than $11 billion. (Article here)
