- The Department of Justice (DOJ) asked the Supreme Court to quickly block Texas’ abortion law. The request follows a 5thS. Circuit Court of Appeals decision earlier this month to allow the law to take effect as litigation over the statute continues. The high court asked state officials to respond to the DOJ’s challenge by Thursday, in addition to fast-tracking consideration of a different appeal brought by abortion providers in Texas.
