- Optum Rx launched Price Edge – a new tool that aims to make it easier to compare the direct-to-consumer price for generic drugs to the price with insurance. The tool, which is available at no additional cost to all of its pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) clients, scans the prices that are available for a traditional generic drug and automatically surfaces the lowest available option to the member. If the direct-to-consumer price is lower than the PBM’s price, the PBM will apply the direct-to-consumer price instead. (Press release here)
