  • Democrats are putting pressure on the Biden administration to ramp up its efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Five Democratic senators sent a letter to the White House expressing “grave concern” with the state of the pandemic response, saying it had too often been “reactive, rather than proactive.” Senators have introduced legislation to increase testing and N95 masks. In response, the White House noted its previous investments to boost rapid testing and that the supply of rapid tests in the U.S. was more than 300 million in December, up from 24 million in August.
