  • A divided federal appeals court panel rejected a request from Texas abortion clinics to send their legal challenge back to the trial court judge who previously blocked the measure. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit instead directed the case to the Texas Supreme Court for further interpretation, effectively leaving in place the state’s six-week ban which allows private individuals to sue abortion providers and prolonging the litigation.
