- President Biden will announce today that his administration is purchasing half a billion rapid tests. The first shipment will arrive in January, after which Americans will be able to get tests delivered by mail to them for free via a federal website. The president will also announce that the federal government is sending military troops to help hospitals cope with Covid surges, deploying ventilators to places that need them, accelerating production of Covid tests, and setting up additional testing sites.
