  • The FDA authorized recipients of Moderna’s two-dose COVID-19 vaccine and Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose shot to receive a booster shot. The agency also authorized a “mix and match” strategy, allowing medical providers to give people a booster shot of a different COVID-19 vaccine than their original dose. Regulators will likely consider in November whether to allow even more people to obtain booster shots, including younger adult recipients of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines who are not yet eligible.
