Opioid/Substance Use Disorders
  • On October 18, U.S. Congressman Dean Phillips (D-MN) and recovery advocates from Minnesota and across the nation will participate in a virtual recovery advocacy roundtable hosted by the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and Minnesota Recovery Connection. Participants will discuss the community-based recovery resources that need immediate and recurring investment and how building ecosystems of support can not only help individuals survive addiction, but sustain and thrive in long-term recovery (Register here)
  • The CDC recorded over 96,000 deaths from drug overdoses in the 12-month period ending in March 2021. The provisional data was released just a few months after the CDC reported that drug overdoses had hit a high in 2020. The latest numbers represent a 30 percent increase over the preceding 12 months and coincide with the first year of the pandemic, when stay-at-home orders radically changed daily life for most Americans.
