  • A group of Senate Democrats is looking at expanding a plan to penalize pharmaceutical companies that raise drug prices above the rate of inflation as part of the government spending package. Lawmakers are still crafting the bill and the details could change, but if adopted, the policy could change how drugmakers set launch prices and adjust them over time, and would extend drug pricing reform to the employer-based insurance market.
