  • In anticipation of the Medicare annual enrollment period kickoff on October 15, Fierce Healthcare summarized what five national insurers have geared up for the 2023 plan year. UnitedHealthcare will expand into 314 new countries and adding a new flex benefit in select plans, which will allow members to extend their existing dental, vision and hearing benefits. Humana will expand its HMO plan and introduce its Medicare LPO plans to 260 new counties. Aetna estimates it will reach an additional one million Medicare beneficiaries by expanding into 141 new counties; it is also introducing a new Medicare Longevity Plan in Pennsylvania. Cigna will offer plans in 581 counties across 28 states, increasing its geographic footprint for Medicare Advantage (MA) by 22 percent, and offer a “Healthy Today” flex card that bundles several additional benefits and incentives. Elevance is adding 210 new counties to its MA footprint for 2023, which will reach an additional 6.7 million Medicare beneficiaries. (Article here)
