- The American Academy of Pediatrics said it is reviewing all of its treatment recommendations in an effort to eliminate “race-based” medicine. The move is prompted by both civil rights movements and science identifying the link between health outcomes and social and biological factors. Dr. Joseph Wright, lead author of the new policy, said the influential group ramped up its review after doctors raised concerns that Black children were being undertreated and overlooked in the medical system.
