  • The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a motion to block Purdue Pharma LP’s bankruptcy plan while the agency appeals a federal judge’s decision to approve the settlement. In the filing, William K. Harrington, the DOJ’s U.S. trustee, said the deal – which grants broad immunity from future legal action to the drugmaker – revokes the rights of people with valid legal claims against the Sacklers, the company’s billionaire owners, “without their knowing and informed consent, adequate notice or an opportunity to be heard.” (Articles here, here, and here)
