  • The Senate voted 50-48 to lift the debt limit until December after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reached a deal. The Senate amended the House bill, which passed 219-212, replacing a longer debt ceiling suspension with a $480 billion increase in the Treasury Department’s borrowing cap designed to last into early December, though it may go a little longer.   • At a Chicago event, President Joe Biden touted his administration’s COVID-19 vaccination mandates, which will apply to more than 100 million people in the coming weeks, saying that there was “no other way to beat the pandemic.” He acknowledged that he “didn’t race to do it right away” but now believes the requirements are the strongest way to get most Americans vaccinated.
