Opioid/Substance Use Disorders
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated guidelines that give clinicians more flexibility in the way they prescribe opioids for short- and long-term pain. The new recommendations avoid strict figures on dosage and length of opioid prescriptions, outline how and when to prescribe opioids, and describe harms and benefits. The agency emphasized the recommendations are voluntary and should not be used to support a one-size-fits-all policy. (Press release here; Articles here, here, and here)
