- UnitedHealth Group’s Optum unit purchased Refresh Mental Health from private equity firm Kelso & Co. Refresh, founded in 2017, operates a network of more than 300 outpatient mental health, substance use disorder, and eating disorder centers spanning 37 states. The acquisition positions Optum as a major player in the behavioral health market by owning one of the largest providers in the space. It comes as payers and providers are increasingly factoring in the many co-morbidities associated with poor behavioral health conditions. (Article here)
