  • Kaufman Hall’s latest hospital flash report indicates that hospitals are still facing major pressures from rising expenses. According to the report, hospital discharges dropped nearly 5.0 percent in November compared to October and were down 6.1 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, total expense per adjusted discharge increased 24.7 percent and labor expense per adjusted discharge rose 26.4 percent. The report’s authors posit that consumers could be delaying or avoiding care due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Report here)
