  • World Health Organization (WHO) officials said that measures used to combat the COVID-19 delta variant should be kept in place to counter omicron. The group previously cautioned against border closures, but Dr. Takeshi Kasai, the WHO regional director for the Western Pacific, acknowledged that they can “buy time” to respond to infections. The WHO also encouraged the continued prioritization of vaccinations, social distancing, and mask-wearing (Articles here and here)
